Palliative Care: Volunteers Training

Volunteers who are interested in helping the terminally ill patients get a chance to do so by undergoing a short training program. The training is held for two days (five hours) followed by a couple of practical visits to patients’ home. The training mainly highlights on understanding the psychological state of a terminally ill patient, skill of communicating with a patient with an incurable disease, basics about some terminal diseases ( cancer, HIV, hepatitis, dementia, last stage - renal, liver, lung heart disease ),handling grief, and practical ways of helping a patient and family in the last stage of disease as a volunteer.
At present we have approximately 45 volunteers who have successfully completed the above training.
