Admissions Open for Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) recognized by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) of Nashik for the academic year 2017-18. 

The Department of Surgery at Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute has been accredited with the FMAS since July 2014 and has been permitted to admit four students per year for the course of FMAS spanning a year.

Nursing Education


Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute’s Institute of Nursing Education is recognised by the Maharashtra Nursing Council and the Indian Nursing Council. A special subject ‘Spiritual Care Nursing’ is taught along with the nursing curriculum to refine students’ soft skills like sympathy, compassionate patient care, communication, etc.



The Institute has a committed faculty team comprising of well-qualified, experienced full-time and external lecturers catering to the learning and developmental needs of the nursing students.



  • Techniques like Role Play, Street Play, Power Point Presentation and Educational Visits to various institutions are used

  • Students are taught practical procedures in the spacious state-of-the-art nursing laboratory with mannequins, models and audio visual aids imported from German and USA Computer Lab

  • To gain expert competencies in clinical practice students are provided clinical experience through Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute and in collaboration with other hospitals

  • The digital hi-tech library housing more than 3000 medical and non-medical books along with National and International Journals aids in the learning process

  • Promotion of Organ Donation and Prevention of Organ Failure by Nephrologist Dr. Jyotsna Zope

  • Disaster Management and Self Defense

  • Stress Management and De-Addiction



The Institute has sponsored research program activity to its credit. The current ongoing research project is ‘Effect of Pressure Bed on Prevention of Bedsore’. All research studies carried out by the Institute are approved and validated by the Research & Ethics Committee of Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute.



For educational activities such as workshops and training, the Institute regularly makes efforts to get grants from various authorities. The Institute has been successful in receiving a grant for the Book Bank Scheme for poor and needy students and fund for organising workshops from the Maharashtra University of Health Science (M.U.H.S.), Nashik. Further even eligible students receive scholarships under minority, reserved caste or EBC scholarship schemes. 

As part of Corporate Social Responsibility, the Institute has initiated ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’ in its vicinity. In addition to this students and staff conduct various Health Check-Up Camps in the rural and tribal areas.

Continuing Medical Education


At Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute emphasis is laid on continuous quality improvement. Thus to facilitate knowledge sharing amongst doctors, Continuing Medical Education (CME) program accredited by the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) is conducted. Specialist doctors are invited to speak on various topics and enlighten the participants about the latest modern healthcare developments. The CME program is conducted in association with bodies like Association of Medical Consultants (AMC) and Indian Medical Association (IMA). Specialist nurses are invited to speak on various topics and empower the participants with knowledge of latest modern healthcare developments in nursing practice. The first CNE to be awarded credit points by the Maharashtra Nursing Council (MNC) was conducted by Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute in association with Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), Mumbai City Branch on December 1, 2016. MNC credit points are awarded and certificates are presented to all the participants on successful completion of the CNE. Registration for CNE is open to all MNC registered nursing professionals.

If you want to live a meaningful day, try spending it doing something for elders – Care for the aged and sick, make them happy and spread goodness.

While the life expectancy is increasing steadily and quality of life is being emphasised more, the senior citizens' group is still prone to sufferings at various levels – Physical, Mental/Emotional and Spiritual. The elderly require comprehensive holistic care encompassing the body, mind and soul.

Caregiver Certificate Course is a community health initiative for training needy people for Geriatric Care – A project initiated by Tata Communications and HelpAge India and implemented by Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute’s Institute of Nursing Education to support the Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Health of the elderly group. The course consists of theoretical training imparted by excellent faculties from the Institute, Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute, Tata Communications and HelpAge India, followed by practical training at old age homes and Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute.



Aim/Objective To provide skill based training on Geriatric Care including soft skills like counselling, caring, etc.
Duration 2 Months


Minimum Education : 8th Pass

Age Group : 18 to 35 years





1st Month – Theoretical Training comprising of :

Classroom teaching, practicals, demonstrations, tests, group activities, Spiritual lectures and Computer Education

2nd Month – Practical Training comprising of :

  • Visits to various Old Age Homes for practical application of knowledge received in theory classes

  • Clinical Posting at Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute under the supervision of experienced nurses in OPD, Emergency Room and various wards like ICU, ICCU, Oncology, Economy, etc.



  • Free 2 months training in Geriatric Care

  • Free Study Material, Stationary and Uniform

  • Free Food, Accommodation and Transport

  • Free Medical Support for students throughout the course tenure


On successful completion of the course, students will be awarded certificates on the basis of grades scored in Written Exam and Field Work





The Caregiver Certificate Course enables students to :

  • Understand the health problems of old age

  • Develop skills of feeding helpless patients, bed making, dressing wounds, etc.

  • Realise the actual help needed for elderly people living in different old age homes and learn how to behave with them

  • Receive exposure to various types of illness, that old people suffer from

  • Learn to work in a team and decision making based on analysis

  • Demonstrate basic patient care skills, communication skills and ethical behaviour

  • Achieve better satisfaction and confidence level after receiving training



The first batch of the course commenced on July 3, 2015 and since then around 150 students have successfully completed the course. Employment opportunities were provided to all the successful students and more than eighty percent of them are currently working at old age homes, private hospitals, and institutions offering Home Care and Palliative Care.

Spiritual Care Certificate Course


Medical Research studies conducted around the world highlight the pivotal role Spiritual Care plays towards ensuring better patient treatment and care in a hospital set-up.
