Eye
Camp at Barsana is an annual feature since 1992.
Barsana is a cluster of 120 villages located 150
km away from Delhi under extreme poverty and lack
of medical facilities.
The response for this year’s Camp was overwhelming!
Camp started on 9th February 2006 and more than
3000 patients were screened with the help of 12
Ophthalmologists, 40 Doctors and 200 Volunteers
who worked for more than a week for almost 16
hours a day.
414 patients were operated for Eye Cataract at
this camp and 21 patients who could not be operated
under camp conditions were brought to Bhaktivedanta
Hospital, Mumbai for surgeries, which were performed
under specialized conditions at the hospital.
All the patients were provided free treatment;
free stay at the hospital and to & fro train
travel from Barsana to Mumbai. Apart from this,
a team of 26 enthusiastic volunteers including
of six Dental Surgeons offered their free services
for three days at this camp. They performed single
tooth extractions, total extractions, filling
cavities and scaling of teeth for patients. 823
patients were served at the Dental camp in three
days. A unique feature of the dental camp was
educating people of dental hygiene. |
