The inception of Bhaktivedanta Eye Hospital – Barsana was sown by a group of doctors (Founders of the Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute) & H. H. Radhanatha Swami during a pilgrimage in 1992. It started with conducting eye camps for cluster of villagers surrounding Barsana. Soon, camp became a regular feature after it received an overwhelming response from the local communities and nearby villages in Barsana. The need and the magnitude of blindness in the vicinity encouraged the founders of Bhaktivedanta Hospital to start a full-fledged eye hospital and dental care facilities under one roof for poor and needy sections of the society in Barsana.

The hospital is equipped with an Eye OPD, Operation Theatre (OT), pharmacy and optical. Eye camps are conducted regularly at Barsana by the hospital. The services rendered at the camp include thorough pre-operative check-up, international standard operation theatre, cataract surgery with IOL (Intra Ocular Lens), free food and accommodation for patient and one relative, eye drops & medicine after discharge, follow ups after 4 days - 40 days.

Incidence of dental and oral issues are high in Barsana due to lack of oral hygiene awareness and education among masses. Hence, regular Dental Camps are also conducted along with the eye camp since 2000. Dentists, volunteers & paramedical staff take efforts to setup a full-fledged dental facility comprising of equipment, chairs & wash basin while rooms are converted into a perfect dental OPD prior to the commencement of the camp.

Regular prayers and spiritual sessions are held by doctors and staff at the centre for well-being of the patients.
