The Department of Anaesthesiology at Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute is committed to offer anaesthesia services 24×7. Since inception of the Hospital in 1998, the Department has always been on the go to improve the quality of care, techniques and skills for the safety of patients. It is efficiently managed by a dedicated team of 8 well-qualified and highly experienced full-time anaesthesiologists. With their expertise and wide experience in the field of Anaesthesiology they cater to patients of all age groups. The safe anaesthesia care provided to the patients is facilitated by state-of-the-art modern anaesthesia work stations and latest equipment like videolaryngoscope, fiberoptic bronchoscope, peripheral nerve stimulator, USG machine, gadgets for invasive monitoring like arterial blood pressure, central venous pressure, etc.


 


Annually the Department caters to around 5,000 patients for surgical and diagnostic procedures. Its motto is 'Stay up-to-date in newly emerging modern Anesthesia Practices to provide safe and highest quality care to the patients'. Regular academic meets and audits are held in the Department. All anaesthesiologists regularly attend regional and national conferences to update their knowledge and skills in their speciality.

PREOPERATIVE EVALUATION


The patient is assessed in the OPD prior to surgery and/or on the day of surgery post hospitalisation when required to ensure that the patient has a safe and comfortable experience during stay in the Hospital.


 


FOR VARIOUS SURGERIES & PROCEDURES


Anaesthesia services are offered at the Operation Theater Complex for all major surgeries including Onco Surgery, General & Laparoscopic Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, ENT & Ophthalmic Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Uro Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecological Surgery, Dental Surgery, Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery, and Bariatric Surgery.


 


The Department uses General and Regional Anaesthesia techniques either separately or in combination. Regional Anaesthesia includes Spinal Anaesthesia, Epidural Anaesthesia, Peripheral Nerve Blocks and Truncal Blocks, each of it used when required. Regional Anaesthesia is assisted by Ultra Sonography when indicated. For General Anaesthesia a variety of pharmacological tools available are utilised. General Anaesthesia technique for difficult airway is managed by using videolaryngoscope or fiberoptic bronchoscope.


 


In the Operation Theatre Suite all patients are monitored as required depending on their medical conditions. It includes pulse oximetry, non-invasive blood pressure, ECG, end-tidal CO2. Invasive monitoring includes invasive arterial blood pressure monitoring, central venous pressure monitoring, etc. Thus, each patient is monitored adequately to ensure safety and successful outcome.


 


The Department also offers services to Cath Lab, Radiology & CT Scan, Endoscopy Suite and Labour Suite.


 


POSTOPERATIVE MONITORING


All patients are monitored post-operatively in recovery area under supervision of well-trained nurses and Anaesthesiologists. ICU backup is available for critically ill patients who need intense monitoring and management post-operatively.

Outpatient Department Consultation


Based on the Operation Theater schedule and availability, any one of the Consultant Anaesthesiologists is available for consultation in the OPD from Monday to Saturday 11:00 am to 01:00 pm (Timing subject to change, please contact the Hospital).
