Improving the quality of life of terminally ill patients and their families
Palliative Care is a medical sub-specialty offered by experts who provide medical care to the
terminally ill patients. Palliative care is Total Care, which comprises of Physical, Emotional,
Psychological and Spiritual Care.
The Department of Palliative Care at Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute was
incepted in 2007 and since then it has been providing services to more than 2000 families in
Mira Road, Bhayandar, suburbs of North Mumbai, Thane, Vasai-Virar, etc.
Our palliative staff is dedicated to provide holistic healthcare to support to critically ill
patients and their families physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We offer
inpatient and outpatient services to needy patients and families. Our team consists of
Palliative Care physicians, counsellors, nurses, social workers and spiritual team to help the
patients and their families to deal with the illness in a better way.
For bedridden patients we have provisions for visiting and providing them palliative care at
their homes. Such patients can register for our Home Care Program at affordable range. The
team of Palliative Care serves as per the needs of the patients and not on the patient’s
prognosis. Every year we train selected group of college students to help patients in their final
journey through Diversion Therapy. They also fulfill their last wishes like celebrating
festivals, birthdays, and anniversaries.
We also have a dedicated centre for Palliative Care at our associate centre Swami
Shraddhanand Hospital in Vasai.
